These prayer necklaces are composed of exactly 108 beads; each one of these beads containing one of 108 buddha’s names according to the sacred buddhist scriptures. Malas are oftentimes made of precious woods and seeds or precious and semi-precious stones. Malas sometime come with a different type of bead for every 36 beads in order to help with the reciting and counting. Malas can be worn either as a fashion accessory or as a true meditation helper. You can wear this mala on the wrist by wrapping it around 3 times or you can wear this mala as a necklace.
This mala is made of 108 rosewood beads. Rosewood is a precious wood native of the south-east Asian continent. Its durability and rot resistant nature makes it a wood of choice for crafting various objects and artefacts such as furniture, masks and jewellery among other items. The knot at the end of the mala is shaped like the infinity symbol in Tibetan buddhism.
